How it installs
Installation guide

- 01
Measure and prepare
- Measure the window before cutting.
- Maintain proper roll tension.
- Keep the film free from dust, fingerprints, creases and edge damage.
- 02
Remove the protective cap
- Remove the cap while the film is dry whenever possible.
- Position the film on the glass before cutting.
- Use only a light spray when needed to hold it in place.
- When using a plotter, control static away from the machine.
- 03
Cut and position
- Hand-cut carefully to match the glass shape.
- Trim up to the dot-matrix area without cutting beyond it.
- Allow for TPU behaving differently from standard PET film.
- Confirm alignment before installation.
- 04
Install using gel
- Apply STEK Installation Gel for positioning and control.
- The gel reduces premature gripping, movement, work lines and installation marks.
- Position the film accurately before final squeegeeing.
- 05
Squeegee method
- Main installation: use a soft urethane squeegee across the film.
- Never use a hard plastic squeegee directly on the film.
- Edge finishing only: use a plastic squeegee wrapped in a soft cloth.
- Work top to bottom and push gel downward evenly.
- 06
Final inspection
- Check alignment, edges, clarity and contamination.
- Confirm that the gel has been removed evenly.
- Inspect adhesion around edges, corners and dot-matrix areas.
- Record the film type, VLT, roll or batch number and installation date.
Before and after installation
How to store the rolls, what to expect while the film cures, and what to tell your customers about care.
Storage and handling
- Store rolls upright in a clean, dry environment.
- Recommended conditions: approximately 15–25°C and 50% relative humidity.
- Avoid direct sunlight, extreme heat, humidity and dust.
- Keep rolls protected until use.
- Prevent creases, roll-pressure marks, fingerprints, wrinkles and edge damage.
- Maintain proper roll tension while cutting.
- Measure the glass before cutting, particularly windows that are wider at the bottom.
Curing
- 72 hours
- at least, before judging the film's initial appearance
- Up to 30 days
- for minor haze or moisture patterns to clear completely
These may appear for a while and are normal:
- Initial haze
- Light moisture marks
- Small water pockets
- Slight optical changes
- Temporary appearance changes on curved areas
Full drying depends on temperature, humidity, season and vehicle conditions.
Customer care
- Do not clean, wipe or press the film during initial curing.
- Use a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner.
- Clean with a soft microfiber cloth.
- Avoid alcohol-based cleaners, abrasive towels, sharp tools, stickers, suction cups and harsh chemicals.
- Contact the installer if lifting, bubbling, distortion or abnormal appearance remains after curing.
